Vijayawada: Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power has earned appreciation from the stakeholders for unveiling its groundbreaking National Efficient Cooking Programme (NECP) aimed at redefining cooking practices nationwide by promoting affordable and energy-efficient induction cookers as an alternative to traditional methods relying on imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) or biomass.

The NECP, a brainchild of the Ministry of Power, introduces induction-based cookstoves offering a remarkable cost advantage of 25-30 per cent over conventional cooking methods. With the deployment of a staggering 20 lakh induction cookstoves pan India, EESL aims not only to ensure substantial energy savings but also to offer cost-effective cooking solutions to households across the country. This initiative is set to reduce the environmental impact of cooking methods, ensuring cleaner air and improved health for citizens, while simultaneously addressing the strategic need to reduce reliance on foreign energy sources. Stakeholders have been praising the scheme as an eco-friendly initiative to reduce the carbon footprints.

EESL CEO Vishal Kapoor said that Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh, who unveiled the NECP emphasised the urgency of reducing dependence on imported energy sources.
